The Motherpeace Tarot is a pioneering deck created in the 1970s that celebrates the creative, goddess spirit. The first distinctive evolution is that the cards are round, symbolic of the female form and also allowing the cards to feel more like a compass rather than a cemented path - as opposed to traditional tarot, where the rectangular design creates a distinct upright or reversed direction. The images mainly feature women and have handwritten names, along with spectacularly evocative illustrations and subtle departures from the traditional - the four suits of the Minor Arcana are Cups; Wands, depicted with African culture; Discs, illustrated with Navajo culture; and Swords, depicted with Greco-Roman imagery. Created by Karen Vogel, a renowned intuitive, teacher and artist and Vicki Noble, a feminist healer, author, independent scholar and wisdom teacher, these card speak to our spirit in a fresh, healing way.
